Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Le Pradet, near Toulon, Domaine de Rocabella offers a distinctive setting for weddings on the French Riviera. With its Mediterranean landscapes, elegant architecture and views across the sea, the estate provides a remarkable backdrop for a celebration shaped by both beauty and atmosphere.

It was here that I created Odysseus, a cinematic wedding editorial inspired by Greek mythology and Homer's Odyssey. Rather than documenting a real wedding, the project was an opportunity to explore a creative idea: reinterpreting the ancient story of Odysseus and his return through the language of contemporary wedding filmmaking.

The result is a film that brings together the spirit of Greek mythology, the Mediterranean landscape and an editorial approach to visual storytelling.

Domaine de Rocabella: A Wedding Venue on the French Riviera

Located in Le Pradet, close to Toulon and the wider Côte d'Azur, Domaine de Rocabella is a wedding venue with a strong sense of place. Its Mediterranean setting, sea views and varied spaces offer couples a distinctive environment for a celebration in the South of France.

For couples planning a destination wedding in France, the setting is an important part of the experience. The landscape, the architecture and the quality of the light all contribute to the atmosphere of the day — and to the way that day can be remembered in photographs and film.

Rocabella lends itself to a range of creative directions, from understated Mediterranean elegance to a more expressive, fashion-inspired celebration. Its relationship with the sea also creates an opportunity to build a visual story around movement, light and the feeling of being somewhere away from everyday life.

For me, this editorial was an opportunity to explore that atmosphere through a concept inspired by one of the most enduring stories of the Mediterranean world.

Odysseus: Reinterpreting Homer's Odyssey Through Film

The starting point for Odysseus was Homer's Odyssey, the ancient Greek epic that follows Odysseus on his long journey home.

At the heart of the story is the idea of return: a journey shaped by distance, uncertainty and the desire to find one's way back. For this project, that idea became the starting point for a contemporary visual interpretation, bringing the spirit of Greek mythology into the world of wedding editorials.

Rather than simply reproducing the imagery of ancient Greece, the film explores the atmosphere and symbolism associated with the story. The Mediterranean setting of Domaine de Rocabella provided a natural connection to this inspiration, allowing the location to become part of the visual narrative.

The project reflects the way I approach filmmaking: beginning with an idea, finding the visual language that expresses it and using movement, composition and atmosphere to create something more than a sequence of beautiful images.

An Editorial Approach to Wedding Filmmaking

Editorial wedding filmmaking sits at the intersection of cinema, fashion and storytelling. It pays attention to composition, movement, textures and the relationship between people and their surroundings, while allowing the film to develop its own identity.

A creative project such as Odysseus offers the freedom to explore a concept more deliberately. It is an opportunity to experiment with a visual direction and consider how a location can contribute to the story being told.

For couples planning a luxury wedding on the French Riviera, this approach can be particularly appealing when the setting and atmosphere are central to their vision. A wedding film does not need to follow a predetermined formula. It can reflect the character of the couple, the spirit of the celebration and the unique qualities of the place where it takes place.

At MĒMENTŌ, my approach combines a cinematic sensibility with an editorial eye inspired by fashion and a focus on personal storytelling. The intention is to create films with a distinctive visual identity while keeping the experience and the people at the heart of the story.
